About Lynne Woods

I am a contemporary Scottish artist working primarily in oil, inspired by flowers, nature and the emotions held within them.

My journey into painting began during a difficult period in my life. Encouraged to attend Project Ability, I discovered a creative space that gave me a reason to leave the house, meet others and reconnect with a sense of purpose.

What started as a weekly class became something much more. Painting has become a source of strength, reflection and joy, allowing me to explore feelings and experiences that are sometimes difficult to express through words.

Before becoming an artist, I spent many years as a florist. My relationship with flowers began there, caring for them from the moment they arrived fresh from the markets to creating arrangements that would bring joy to others. I have always been fascinated by their beauty, delicacy and resilience.

Through my work, I explore themes of hope, strength, vulnerability and renewal, inviting viewers to find their own connection and meaning within each painting.

Working with oils, I am drawn to the depth, texture and emotion that the medium allows. My paintings often begin with elements from nature - flowers, water and landscapesexploring the relationship between fragility and resilience.
